If you are a
hard worker who enjoys a challenge and wants to have their
effort noticed on a massive scale, then an internship or externship
with A.E. Schwartz & Associates is absolutely the way
to go. I am a journalism and political science major, and
this summer I worked for Andrew as well as a local newspaper
as a sports writer. With the newspaper, I had to constantly
call and claw my way for stories, where Andrew gave me plenty
of options and encouragement along the way. Either via phone,
email or instant messaging, I talked to Andrew a minimum of
four times per week. He always wanted to see how far I had
come in my progress on projects, gave pointers on new things
to try and advice on what things should be changed. However,
he never made me feel subservient or in any way not important.
My other internship left me feeling out of “the group,”
whereas A.E. Schwartz & Associates kept me included and
a strong contributor the entire summer. I think I might work
with Andrew again next summer, and I had a great time.

My expectations did not change after the first month. I learned
about all the projects I would be doing and I realized this
would really help my portfolio. You have to be a motivated
individual. I learned through this internship how to manage
my time more wisely; more about the profession of graphic
design and web site design and how much time and effort goes
into projects; and more about the production side of graphic
design as opposed to just the design aspects.

This internship experience taught me to expect the unexpected,
especially in the business world. I have been challenged to
improve on both my professional talents and weaknesses. Andrew
is a very accessible boss, which is important for people who
would like a mentor as well as a director. He is extremely
flexible and concerned about your needs as an intern and as
a person. If you are someone who likes to work independently
but can also transfer easily into group projects, then this
internship is perfect for you. Most importantly, this internship
is moldable to what you want to accomplish and learn.

As a Marketing Intern I was able to work “hands on”
with projects that directly affected both online websites (Internships4You
and TrainingConsortium). The work that I have done and the projects
that I have been apart of have taught me valuable business skills.
I feel I grew personally because I was required to work on and
complete tasks that didn’t always spark my interest. I
was never forced to work on tasks, if anything my task assignments
were flexible—if I didn’t want to work on something
I was always able to take “less of a load” as I
felt necessary. Because of this flexible work environment, all
of the interns, were forced to take personal responsibility
to complete projects. Just coming out of my freshman year, this
internship provided me with opportunities that I wouldn’t
have been able to get at many other places. I was integrated
in to a business that was pretty much already on its feet and
I got to see the everyday operations and then directly work
on tasks that kept the company running. This experience will
only help me in the future and I feel that now I understand
more clearly the direction in which I want to take my studies
and my career.

I found the internship with AE Schwartz & Associates through
job postings on Internships4You.com and Monster.com.
Further information was found through PrincetonReview.com
and Tufts contacts. My overall experience was Exceptional! Andrew Schwartz is a
phenomenal mentor and friend who was willing to work with me
as I entered my first internship in a business environment.
The hands on experiences were excellent as I was able to
enter a small company and make a big impact. I felt important
and needed throughout my internship experience. Although the
internship is not in a professional environment, the experience
is as professional as you can get as an intern. My only regret
from my summer internship was leaving early and not being able
to complete my overall objective of maximizing my performance.

This internship educates you with actual experience while serving
as a crash course in the workings of a real life business environment.
It skillfully exposes you to the various needs of a growing business
from marketing all the way to graphic design. It challenges you to
elaborate on everyday business concepts such as work, communication,
etc. It directs you to work - efficiently, communicate - effectively,
problem solve - constructively, learn - successfully and grow - gradually.
Most importantly it teaches you to think!

For talented and motivated students, finding an undergraduate
business internship that allows you to use your full range of
abilities is a difficult task. It takes so much time to train
interns to do substantial work that large companies often prefer
them to fetch coffee and make photocopies---or, almost worse,
make them sit in the office with no work at all. A.E. Schwartz
& Associates is the exception to this rule: interns are
given the chance to do real tasks that utilize their best abilities.
As a Sales and Marketing intern, work was challenging because
I got to choose the abilities I wanted to use, and rewarding
because I could see how what I produced affected the company's
bottom line. Another positive aspect of the internship was the
people I worked with. Andrew, the CEO, the other partners, and
the other interns became just as much friends as coworkers.
The internship is unpaid, although Andrew provides a lot of
flexibility if you communicate your needs clearly and do productive
work. Additionally, Andrew enjoys teaching interns, and he takes
as a much time as needed out of his schedule to ensure that
you walk away from the experience with a wealth of new business
knowledge. Andrew I had had many valuable discussions, not just
about how to perform the tasks I was working on, but also about
general business issues that will be relevant as my career progresses.

I have been working with A.E. Schwartz & Associates for nearly
ten months. My main responsibility involved the Marketing
for TrainingConsortium. Working for a smalll company like
A.E. Schwartz & Associates allowed me to get a lot of hands-on
experience, have my own projects and consequently learn a
great deal. Having a Psychology background and intending to
move towards business this internship was a perfect match
and it complemented the courses I attended at Harvard Extension
School. Moreover - coming from Switzerland - I got to know
the American work life mentality and to improve my English.
The experience I gained during this ten intense months will
always be appreciated and I was pretty sad to leave.

Here's the bottom line: because of the kinds of projects,
responsibilities, and contributions I have made to Internships4You.com,
I feel like I have a personal investment -- even a sense of
ownership -- in this innovative company. As the first member
of the Internships4You.com team, I have significantly helped
develop a business from the get-go, impacting projects ranging
from pricing/cost research and evaluation, to research and
implementation of business strategy, to website design and
development, to website text enhancement and advancement.
With less than one year as a member of the Internships4You.com
team, I have completed enough noteworthy projects to fill
up a two page resume! Internships are about real work experience,
and this is exactly what you get when working with Andrew
(CEO) at Internships4You.com. Andrew’s ingenious insights
and personable nature facilitate a mutually beneficial mentor-protégé
relationship that is unlike any other. I am 100% confident
that because of my experience at this company, I am fully
prepared, professionally and personally, to begin a very successful
career in a similar career/discipline. I strongly recommend
this internship to all of my fellow college classmates!

A hands-on experience? No, I wouldn't
say so. A hands-in experience would be a far more descriptive
term. Through A.E. Schwartz and Associates, I have gained
experience in the modern workplace that most 40 year-olds
don’t have. Working directly with the CEO, I did everything
from drafting legal documents to helping to develop a business
model. My time here has been utterly unique, and I would
recommend an internship at A.E. Schwartz and Associates
to anybody looking to gain a leg up in today's competitive
economy.

When I entered the wonderful world of interning I expected
to find myself making photocopies, filing papers and doing
all the other activities that connote the word internship.
The internship, however, is far from that. The amount I have
learned and the value of the responsibilities I have been
given are immeasurable, not to mention the fostering working
environment and a terrific group of talented individuals,
that make this experience so valuable.
Kate Steinbuhler

What stands out in my mind regarding my experience with A.E.
Schwartz & Associates and, specifically TrainingConsortium.com
was not so much what we did, but how we did it. "It"
was laying down the foundation for what, I felt for the most
part, to be my own company. Proposals, guidelines, and policies
to which we adhered were created by us and not given to us
as stringent, stale, and anachronistic business practices.
Every day was a step forward in which learning and knowing
played an integral part.

Learning with the Training Consortium team has been a rewarding
and unforgettable experience. As an intern concentrating in
information systems, my challenge has been to explore, implement,
and align technology with our strategic goals. Some of my
projects have included the management of our contact database,
the trial and recommendation of new software, the management
of overnight fax bursts, and the searching and contracting
of prospective clients via the Internet. I strongly recommend
this internship, and I hope that your experience will be as
instrumental in your education as mine has been.
Matta Ayoub

Upon entering the Sales/Marketing internship position at
Training Consortium, I was unsure of what to expect. I thought
I was going to be entering into a "hyped" up telemarketing
position. Instead, I found that I was continuously challenged
with projects and assignments which encompassed a wide range
of arenas. Each of us at Training Consortium had a great impact
on the success of the company. I learned more at this internship
then I would have at any other due to the amount of responsibility
that I was given, coupled with the continuous feedback that
I received. I would recommend taking the opportunity to learn
through an internship at A.E. Schwartz & Associates/Training
Consortium. It truly is an enriching experience.

What was most impressive about working with Andrew was his
personal commitment to making internships a true learning
experience. Andrew is an unbelievably busy person who still
finds the time to be very personally involved in his interns'
development. He is sincerely interested in helping interns
meet their career goals, whether or not they are in the training
and development industry. Andrew will give you as much work
as you can handle and the trust and guidance for you to carry
it out. Almost as soon as I began working with him, Andrew
gave me a manuscript to work on and scenarios to write. My
brain was exercised as often if not more than my copy editing
skills. The office is also a very exciting and dynamic environment,
full of interesting people who are all busy with their own
projects. Every time I talk to Andrew, he is brimming over
with news of the office and the web site. An internship working
with Andrew is sure to be a rewarding one for motivated individuals,
no matter what their interests.

What attracted me to this internship was its promise for
hands-on responsibilities and challenging tasks; it exceeded
my expectations in both areas. My internship experience has
been wonderfully rewarding: I was continuously pushed to expand
my comfort zone, and to continue learning.
Putri L.M. Rivai

Working with Andrew this past summer was one of the best
internship experiences I have ever had. When he says that
you won't be doing any "mind-numbing work," he really
means it. As a member of the sales and marketing department,
I was able to work on and create actual projects, and there's
nothing more gratifying than seeing the fruits of your labor
come to life like that. We were also given the opportunity
to work with the creative department, which allowed us to
experience each aspect of the projects we worked on. From
the beginning till the end, I felt like an integral part of
the company, whose ideas and contributions really mattered.
I can't say enough how great this internship was, and I would
recommend it to anyone who was seriously interested in learning
and growing as a worker and as a person.
MA. SOCORRO delRosario

This internship was quite far from what I expected of a typical
one. Andrew Schwartz took all of us under his wing more as
associates than interns. The amount and quality of work I
was faced with was unexpected yet pleasant. The amount of
responsibility he gave me showed his trust in the work that
I could do - which I considered very much an honor. Not a
man of stern looks and demeanor, he listened and guided me
in a very positive manner. I was able to develop an eye for
what designs business customers expect and appeal to. And
surprisingly enough, I acquired many design fundamentals while
working under his guidance. A true learning experience.

Working at A.E. Schwartz and Associates this past summer
has been one of the most unique experiences of my life. As
a member of the sales and marketing department I was able
to work first hand with actual projects and did not perform
clerical tasks. I was an intergral member in a team that produced
a business plan for venture capital and also assisted in the
development and marketing of several different products. Most
importantly I was able to work side by side with Andrew Schwartz
and learn the industry through his experienced eyes. It was
truly a great learning experience.

A.E. Schwartz and Associates Internship program really opened
my eyes to the exciting world I will be facing when I graduate
school. The Graphic Design Internship program made me understand
what it is like to work for a client with great expectations.
Andrew taught me how to work well with other designers in
a quick and clean manner. I feel I grew tremendously as a
designer and person during this incredible Internship experience.
I highly reccommend this to anyone that is interested in the
Graphic Design field.

For the first time, I was exposed to "real-world"
business concepts in a non-school environment. I never realised
how much I could learn in a four-month period of time. During
my internship, I have played a very active role in researching,
developing, marketing, and participating in client meetings
and so much more. I was overwhelmed in the beginning, although
through Mr. Schwartz's mentoring I was able to learn and contribute
productively. Highly recommend this work setting and experience
so much so that I am continuing my affiliation on a project
basis.

The experience of working as an graphic design intern at
A.E. Schwartz & Associates is very "hands-on"!
What I appreciate the most is to be able to work with Mr.
Schwartz as a team and create most of the graphic works. I
get instant feedbacks from him which help a lot. I have been
a part of a team and recieved one to one feedback from more
of a mentor than a supervisor. I have developed far more within
my portfolio than I ever expected. Projects raging from book
design, training manuals, powerpoint and web design were only
the beginning. While I am returning to Taiwan in August, this
experience has been far more practical than school and I have
learned alot.

What attracted me most to this internship was the opportunity
to work closely with both Andrew and my co-interns. From Andrew,
I learned a great amount of information relevant to sales,
marketing, and business. He has an outstanding commitment
to his interns, and his devotion to teaching certainly has
impacted my understanding of the business world. My co-interns
introduced me to various fields, including as business technology
and publishing. The unique combination of learning from the
President of A.E. Schwartz and from my peers has allowed me
to develop a well-rounded repertoire of business skills.
Michael Gottfried

If I were to choose one word to describe the internships
at A.E. Schwartz & Associates and TrainingConsortium.com,
it would be "hands-on". We had real projects and
our work impacted the company. We were also all treated as
young professionals in our respective areas of expertise.
As an Information Systems intern, my projects mostly revolved
around web development and system administration but along
the way I also learnt a lot about sales, marketing, writing,
graphic design, and got some insight into what is involved
in running a business. Since I am a Computer Science major
with an interest in business this internship was a perfect
match, as it did a wonderful job of blending those two fields.
Jetesh Hariramani

Looking back on my summer, I realize that I have learned far
more than I had expected. As a writing/editing intern, I have
not only gained valuable experience in editing, publishing,
and business writing; but I have also learned about web-site
development, marketing, and sales from my daily interactions
with the other interns. We each had primary responsibility for
one or more projects, which everyone usually had some part in
designing, editing, or marketing. In addition, the home-based
setting and flexible hours created an atmosphere that was casual,
but nonetheless one that was fast-paced and demanding.
Jenny Jefferson

In working as a remote intern for A.E. Schwartz & Associates
this summer I was able to sharpen my copyediting skills by
working on a variety of projects including a book manuscript,
marketing brochures, and training modules. I also helped develop
the remote internship program which will enable students from
all over the world to be a part of A.E. Schwartz & Associates.
These tasks and many others have advanced my research, writing,
and communication skills.
Beth Keohane
What originally interested me in A.E. Schwartz & Associates
was the opportunity to write from day one. And during the
application process, I was convinced that I wanted to work
here because of the company's friendly, personable attitude.
AES has proved to be an invaluable experience. Not only have
I found friendships all over the US, but I have also published
an article, worked on the website, had my voice recorded for
all time on the School for Managers audio tape, edited and
written training modules and reviews as well as learned from
the numerous talents of my fellow interns. A.E. Schwartz &
Associates has both improved my writing skills and broadened
my horizons.
Elizabeth Plunket
Middlebury College, Middlebury, VT
Working at A.E. Schwartz and Associates has been a continuous
learning experience for me. Besides learning about the different
aspects involved in the business environment this internship
has given me the opportunity to identify my own personal strengths
and weaknesses through hands on experience; this is critical
for any internship position. Through Mr. Schwartz's continuous
feedback sessions, I can work on improving these weaknesses
so as to make them strengths.
Kate Steinbuhler
Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA
The aspect that distinguishes an internship here at A.E.
Schwartz & Associates from my friend's internships is
it's multidimensional approach. I have gone far beyond my
primary sales and marketing responsibilities and been exposed
to virtually every aspect of the organization over these 2+
years. This experience will most definitely lead me further
than my peers. I have worked hands-on with sales, writing,
databases, reports, correspondence, marketing, the Internet,
testimonies, evaluations, clients, as well as with people
both internally and externally. It has been fascinating watching
the growth and success of my contributions and the organization's
continued growth. I understand more about business, and what
this organization through the unique one-to-one monitoring
approach. Here, I have been treated as an adult and valued
as a team member.
Michelle Carletti
Boston University, Boston, MA
While I initially intended to work at A.E. Schwartz &
Associates for just one summer, I stayed on throughout the
subsequent school year on a part-time basis. The experience
enriched and complimented my MBA course curriculum; I applied
classroom theory to real-life practice on a regular basis.
Working for a solo practicioner afforded unique benefits -
ready flexibility and hands-on work. That is, my projects
were geared towards my interests, and thus the value of my
internship experience was maximized.
Ida Faber

This is no typical paper-shuffling internship. People are
given a great deal of responsibility over their work, which
fosters a sense of pride and achievement. To make things even
better, there's a fantabulous camaraderie in the office and
the change to work with a spectacular group of people. I feel
I am very lucky to benefit from such an opportunity.
Christina Neamtu
Harvard University, Cambridge, MA
"An intern?" people say. "What do you do?
Make copies?" Well, sometimes. I made copies of the contract
that I typed up requested revisions for so that it could be
sent back to the publishing house. I've made copies of articles
for research on the final portion of the training handbook
manuscript I'm working on. It's what I expected. We all benefit
from a balance between the freedom to shape projects to our
own interests or styles and the guidance of a true professional.
Dawn Packer

As a graphic design intern, my responsibilities were to create
training materials, draft advertising and redesign web sites
by utilizing various computer software. I also had the opportunity
to attend fast paced seminars and conferences and was able
to observe the impact of the training materials I helped develop.
Sawako Fukushima
Leslie College, Cambridge, MA
There is no question in my mind that an internship with A.E.
Schwartz & Associates is a worthwhile experience. I was
impressed with the responsibility and trust given to me from
day one. It goes without saying that a friendship was formed
this summer and I am certain that the relationship we built
will continue for quite some time.
Craig D. Wrentmore
Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA
The internship soon exceeded my expectations. Andrew gave
me real and important work. I copy edited his training manuals
and programs as he prepared them for his clients. I also had
the opportunity to write articles that were published in national
management/business related publications. Andrew not only
wanted to hear my opinions, he took them seriously. When you
pick apart someone else's writing, you begin to think about
the writing process seriously and carefully.
Douglas Park
Harvard College, Cambridge, MA
The experience and knowledge I have gained regarding office
management, the world of sales and marketing have reached
well beyond my expectations. Although slightly overwhelmed
at the start, with the guidance and advise of Mr. Schwartz,
I have worked towards a greater understanding of the business
market through hands on experience and readings developed
by Mr. Schwartz. My experience includes learning the techniques
of telemarketing and putting them into practice; blind mailings,
the development of sales packages, on-line computer work;
attending sales meetings, lunches, conferences and his "School
For Managers" training seminars. The fast paced, hands-on,
comfortable environment has allowed for a truly exciting,
productive internship applicable for future work employment.
Jeremy A. Grossman
Syracuse University, Syracuse, NY
I entered the internship with the expectation of learning
about the training and consulting business, sharpening my
sales skills and improving my written and oral communication
skills. I also wished to develop writing and editing abilities.
Time spent on the job is well worth it as Andrew provides
the proper mix of guidance and autonomy allowing you to develop
at your own pace. My work centered mainly on networking with
potential clients through the mail and on the telephone. I
greatly improved my telephone skills, gained confidence in
dealing with people, learned how to manage my time and how
to effectively organize my work. I recommend the experience
to anyone interested in learning about the business and/or
anyone interested in developing their interpersonal and managerial
skills.
John Harnett
Boston University MBA Program, Boston, MA
I would tell a prospective intern that his or her work will
be relevant. I have seen my work delivered at training seminars,
incorporated into several books and modules. The value of
the experience I received there cannot be measured. I feel
that this internship will give me a great advantage over others
who have had other internships, or who haven't experienced
one. Mr. Schwartz's hands-on approach was extremely helpful.
He was readily available for questions, and provided frequent
feedback that helped me grow as a writer. I have matured greatly
as a writer. The novelty of the abundance of work overwhelmed
me at times, but it will benefit me greatly in the long run.
I will be prepared to take on a plethora of work that any
future profession may require. It has been a gratifying experience.
I have received my name on a couple of projects which will
be extremely useful in procuring a position in the future.
I would recommend this internship to anyone who aspires to
get a step up on the competition in the marketplace.
Jason Morris
Brandeis University, Waltham, MA
I made the decision to leave my job and dedicate
myself to gaining experience in the field of training by becoming
an intern at A.E. Schwartz & Associates. Not only was
I able to hone my skills a trainer by designing, developing
and delivering a complete training program, but I gained even
more. I learned how to write marketing materials, copy edit
manuscripts, negotiate sales calls as well as many successful
organizational techniques for operate a business. Virtually
every project I was involved with was productive and meaningful.
I was taught by Andrew as if he was own personal coach. Despite
the constant activity in the office, Andrew always took time
to carefully review my work and offer constructive feedback
which enabled me to improve upon and further develop skills.
